Today, I schedule myself for my blog. It was needed to be organized. But yes, in the process I made few important optimizations which might be useful in due course.

Currently, I am involved with so many other assignments that I hardly get any time for my own Blog. I am already involved in couple of guest blogging, and above all I have my official responsibilities which has kept me on my toes all the time. But nevertheless, I am enjoying every bit of it.

So coming back to the necessary optimizations, I think periodically we need to keep tweaking our blogs or websites to see what works best.

Few of the Important Changes you can do to make a better Blog -

Removed Unnecessary Categories – Initially, I was not very sure what the best technique was and that led me in trying too many things with my blog. But now I have more practical insight as to what works and what’s not. So for the blogs, keep it simple. Instead of piling huge list of categories, try to see if you can use more generalized term for the same. It helps and also avoids the duplicate listings of posts into various categories.

Every Category should have defined Titles – Very important and commonly ignored. Still don’t trust me. Look at your blog buddy and I am sure you will have a something to smile. Use plugins to do so. There are few on the block which we can use. And I must tell you, it adds immense value to your Category page. So instead of having Page Title as a Category Name you can really have something which defines what it contains. And more importantly it will help you in SE’s as well.

Don’t rush your Posts into too many Categories – Yeah, this is something which has been in debate for a while and everyone has their own way of expressing and using it. We have heard a lot from modifying .htaccess file to Robots.Txt but for me all we need is bit wider sense. We should have eye to decide as to which the best category for our post is. Adding into multiple categories is not a sin, but avoid as much as you can.

Feed you Categories with the Description Vitamins – Confused! Shouldn’t be. Log into you blog, go to Categories, you will find there is a section where we can add the descriptions to all our Categories. That field was not created to fool us. The description we add becomes a Title for our Categories Link. So you see everything gets accounted.

I think these basic points will surely help everyone in adding real vales to their Categories. I know few may be already doing this. But you can always spread this. Right!
