Google has done it again…

We have seen Google started as a small searchengine and now its a giant. But we canot disagree that he has done almost everything to make life easier for internet searchers.

This time they have released a update on Google Sitemaps. They have added a new feature “Setting the preferred domain”. This will give you an oppurtunity to tell you Google that wether you want the google bot to crawl and index urls with WWW version of the domain or without WWW version of the domain. this feature is something which will give your idea to the Goolge i.e. how you want your pages to be read. There are the few points which will make things more clear to you. Setting the prefered domain, will bypass the case of non-preferred version to your account.

I really liked this move - if someone used 301 redirects to o point the www and non-www versions to the same version, they can still enjoy the benefit from using this feature like; the bots can more easily consolidate links to your site and over time, it will direct the crawl to the preferred version of your pages.

Good work Google…
